Account Cancelled

I say with a heavy heart that my husband and I have cancelled our WoW accounts. Gabi hasn't logged in for a long while having found other projects to occupy his time. I have the interest to play but not really the time. We were both ok with just letting our account live on in case we found the time and desire to play.

Unfortunately, the current economic down turn isn't going to allow us to do that. At least for now.

The good news is that we are still employed! The kinda cruddy thing happening is forced days off without pay to help the company budget. Two mandatory days off a month without pay. It's not so bad but since Gabi and I work for the same company, it's 4 days without pay (almost a week's paycheck *poof* gone). We're not in any kind of dire straights, just needed to trim some fat from the budget until we get to work full schedules again.

This means this site will most likely not be updated and just consider the desdarii twitter finished. I know I haven't been the most active since the baby was born anyway so not a huge loss to WoW bloggers. Still it's been great fun and perhaps someday soon I'll find my way back!

Breaking News: I Played WoW

My wonderful husband was able to fix my WoW issue and I successfully logged it and stayed in game last night!

First thing that happened was I was granted a title "Champion of the Frozen Wastes". I actually should have earned this title last month but WoW somehow had forgotten that I had done the Culling of Stratholme. I didn't think it too big a deal. I would find time to do the dungeon again eventually. Now I don't have to worry about it. WoW suddenly remembered my past victory and I have the title now!

I also finally remembered to take a picture of me riding the Sandbox Tiger. I had fun roleplaying in Dalaran with it. Mostly with my self as is the norm but my chatter in /say did make people stop and stare at me.

Experiencing Technical Difficulties

I definitely had the time to log on and enjoy WoW over this long weekend. Extra long for my husband and I as we had Monday off (without pay) as well. Unfortunately, my laptop is so used to not playing WoW, it freaked out and would turn off when I attempted to play.

I'm serious. I could do anything else I wanted on the laptop without issue. I could fart around on the Internet. I could sort and edit gobs of memory hogging pictures. I turn on WoW and 5 minutes later the laptop is dead.

When I turn it back on it complains about being too hot and shutting down. It shouldn't be hot. I have it properly propped up and ventilated with a fan blowing on it's bottom. I think my computer is just a whiner.

My hubby's been trying to sort out what it's deal is but so far no luck. I know he'll figure it out though. He's super smart like that. Until then I guess I'll just have to find something else to do.

Absenteeism

I don't believe I have logged in at all since getting the Sandbox Tiger. Such are the pitfalls of parenthood but I'm honestly not regretting it. Baby is discovering her hands and learning to smile and giggle and she's great fun!

Plus last weekend we decided to paint the living room. It took all weekend and shift changes for taking care of the little gnome. The room now looks really stinking good if I do say so myself so it was worth it.

So I have no WoW news to report this week and that's just tough cookies. I'm certain I'll find some spare time someday. Baby is starting to sleep more which is nice but right now I usually use that downtime to sleep myself. I'll be back but don't wait up for me!
And now... cuteness.

Sandbox Tiger

My husband enjoys the WoW Minis quite a bit. Not so much for playing the minis game, just because he likes collecting them. He recently graduated from college and for one of his presents we got him two mini boxes.

In one of the boxes there was a Sandbox Tiger card. Since he is a loving and wonderful husband he gave the card to me. I'm sort of a sucker for stupid nonsense items. It's pretty fun to play with. For those not aware, it's like one of those playground rocker toys. This is a spectral tiger on a spring.

Here I would of most likely included a picture of me riding my new Sandbox Tiger but unfortunately my WoW screenshots folder got corrupted somehow. I logged in to take a new picture last night but went and killed Ahune instead and then completely forgot all about my tiger. Sorry. I've always been a bit ditsy though. Maybe I'll remember to take one some other time and include it.

My only complaint would be it only has 50 charges. Why!? Why can't I just have a Sandbox Tiger toy to play with forever? It's just a fun silly item. It makes me sad and now I don't use it as much as I probably normally would just because I want to save it for special occasions.

In other news, I have finished all the Fire Festival events and got my new title. Woo! Desdarii the Flame Warden. Yeah, I don't suspect to be using that one often.

Lil' Game Hunter

Today I broke down and decided to purchase the last 3 pets I needed to finish up this achievement. I had more money than I've ever had before thanks to my lack of doing anything but dailies in game for the past 2 months.

I bought myself a red, green and dark whelp. They were the cheapest ones on the auction house which is odd since the whelps are usually pretty darn expensive. The new winners are the argent dawn pets going for 2.5k each. I was tempted to buy some of the horde pets that was available but honestly... they're ugly. If anything I'd want the blood elf pet because it's so very Fantasia.

After learning my pets I got the achievement and a letter from Breanni. Included was Little Fawn's Salt Lick to add to my collection.

The baby deer is adorable. I love how it prances happily behind me as we proudly march around Dalaran.

It looks like my pet collection obsession is satisfied for now. There are no more achievements at this time for me to strive for. I'll still work on getting the rest of the argent tournament pets and at least the Enchanted Broom. For today though I am a content pet collector!

Battle Bot

Today I redeemed my Battle-Bot pet from the Mountain Dew promotion. It just looks like a bot but it has two empty canisters on the back. I supposedly was to receive fuel for the bot but I didn't get any. I can get some tomorrow anyway. I really just needed another pet.

I'm not sure when the pet became available. I thought they would email me or something with a code. But there it was on the home page staring me in the face. "Battle-Bot Pet: claim now..." Yeah I can be a bit slow at times.

I'm now 3 pets away from Lil' Game Hunter. I have 2 more argent tournament pets to get. I got the sheep yesterday. I just about jumped out of my skin when that Elwynn wolf came out and ate it. I was desperately trying to kill it and save my sheep.

I'll have to either farm for or suck it up and purchase a whelp to get that final pet. Good thing all I do is dailies! I might be able to afford one!

Achievementpalooza!

I finished up my work for all the factions at the Argent Tournament and was bombarded with achievements!

What exactly is the difference between Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance and Exalted Champion of the Alliance anyway?

I'm just glad I don't have to bring that ding bat flowers anymore. I've only got 2 of the pets though so I still need to continue the other dailies to earn all those!

I Beg to Differ

Travelers stopped coming? Oh really? I guess you haven't noticed me then. I've visited you every day for the past week because apparently the daily is stuck! Here's your stupid flowers now give me the sword... again... and I'll be on my merry way so you can continue on your pity party.

A Night of Raiding

Last night Gabi said he would watch the baby and let me have a night raiding once again. I forgotten how much fun it was. I have missed hanging out with those 9 wonderful people!

Where did we go?

They took me to the Vault of Archavon. I have helped destroy Archavon many times but Emalon was new to me. It wasn't very difficult but seeing and trying the new fight was super fun. Gee even had to save me once when I accidentally got too close to a Tempest Warder. I couldn't help it. I was excited and had to see!

Next we went to the Eye of Eternity to face off with Malygos. I've been in here before but it was just a "Hey lets see what's in there" trip. We didn't even make it past phase one. They have all defeated Malygos since then but I was nervous I was going to muck up the works. I did fine until phase 3 and riding the dragon. Basically I freaked out, didn't stay with the group and died out of stupidness. We didn't defeat him that time anyway and the next time I felt much more confident having seen what was going to happen.

I had thought I would finally get my champion of the frozen wastes title but unfortunately it appears I have yet to do Heroic Stratholme. I know for a fact I have done this before as I helped Earynn get his Bronze Drake. I some how got cheated on credit for finishing that dungeon. Maybe I can find some time some weekend to finish off that achievement.

Was a good night! I had a lot of fun.

Belated Blogiversary

I just realized I missed my 1 year blogiversary! I started this blog and posted my first post on May 6, 2008. Now it's almost June. /blush

I am not as active as I used to be but I'm busier than usual. It is nice to see I did keep this up for so long!

For the Alliance!

I have a serious addition to Mt. Dew. Have for years. Every so often I get it into my head to quit but I always come back to it. Sort of like WoW, actually. This combination just makes sense to me. Right now I'm back on the juice for its caffine goodness for this sleep deprived mama.

Thanks to Good Morning Azeroth for sharing this!

For the alliance!

Snazzy New Hat!

I actually saved up enough cooking awards to obtain the Chef's Hat. It took 100 awards but unlike other dailies, there is a chance to obtain more than one award each day. I also got the achievement for buying the hat.

Luckily I had kept up doing these dailies even after obtaining all the cooking recipes. My reasoning was that if they added new recipes, it would be put on that vendor and I'd be all prepared to buy whatever I was missing.

About a month ago I discovered the Chef's Hat on the vendor (yeah I don't read patch notes anymore). Luckily I already had 60 some awards stored up so in about a month I was able to earn the extra 40.

The crazy thing is that with the addition of this hat, I now have gotten all the cooking achievements available. I focus on the silliest things.

I don't know if I'm going to continue doing the cooking daily. I may just take a break from it for a bit. For one thing I have 200 Northern Spices in my bank. This even while I was using them to make fish feasts for raids. That's a lot of stinking spices. I'll probably pick back up on the daily when this stock gets a little low.

Of the Exodar

I started the Argent Tournament quests later than most. Gee kept telling me how great jousting was and I honestly just wasn't interested. I just kept doing my own little round of dailies and completely ignored that little patch in Icecrown.

That was until Gabi notified me that there were pets to be had from this jousting nonsense. Damn. Now I have to do it.

My first experience with jousting was something along the lines of, "oh my god this is way too flipping hard. I hate it forevers." I couldn't really figure it out and kept dying in attempts to defeat anything.

Gabi and Dumadin came and assisted me with my quests and thank goodness they did or I wouldn't of gotten them done at all. Gabi then helped explain what buttons he was mashing and in what sequence so I could stop dying and maybe actually do the quests on my own.

So thanks to my gnome coach I was able to start adding these dailies to my task list and actually complete them on my own. I made it all the way to Champion and got my "Desdarii of the Exodar" title.

I also got a little squire for a pet. It sounds so wrong to call this little boy that faithfully follows me around a pet. I'm pretty sure I'm breaking some child labor laws by having him carry all my stuff, too. At least I don't miss my little orphan from Children's Week as much now.

Achievement update: I am now 7 pets away from Lil' Game Hunter. Go me!

A Small Jewelcrafting Rant

Specifically I would like to voice my official complaint about the skill Prospecting. Basically, it doesn't work for poo and I'm fed up with it. I have very limited time to play. Mostly I get to login, do a few dailies and then I'm off for the remainder of the day. Sometimes I'm so busy with my new mommyhood that I have to spread those few dailies out between nap times just to complete them.

To sum it up: I don't have 3 trillion hours to hunt for ore that doesn't have gems worth a turd in them.

Beorr was kind enough to go out and spend his free time mining and sent me 5 stacks of ore. Every 5 pieces of ore can be prospected to look for gem so I had 20 chances to get a nice blue quality gem to be cut and given to guildies to use.

Not counting the shiny Scarlet Ruby that Beorr must of obtained mining, out of my 20 prospects I got 2 blue quality gems. 2 sapphires. That's it. Sure that equals a 10% return on my prospecting attempts but I'm saying that's not good enough. The entire process is too random.

I'm not able to keep up with the guild's needs for gems. I have a ton of sapphires and opals in the bank but never any ruby or topaz gems to share. What did I get. More damn sapphires that no one wants. It's very frustrating.

I think my main cause of frustration is that I'm not able to farm for my items like other professions are. I can't go, "oh I'm out of rubies, time to go find some ruby gem nodes to mine". No I have to cross my fingers and toes and hope that the gems that pop out of the prospecting is the ones I require.

Not to mention I'm absolutely swimming in green quality uncut gems that no one wants. They don't even sell well on the auction house.

I need a way to turn all these cruddy green quality gems into blues I can actually use. Yes, I am aware of the Icy Prism pattern but as I mentioned, I'm not exactly going into dungeons any longer. I am woefully short of Frozen Orbs required. Even so I think there's probably better uses out there for Frozen Orbs since the Icy Prism just gives me a random assortment of gems and a good chance of more crud I don't need.

What I need is way to just take a bunch of the cruddy Bloodstone gems and fuse them together into a Scarlet Ruby. That way I know what I'm getting when I'm short on gems and can make one from spare materials in a pinch. I have a bag full and several slots in the guild vault dedicated to collecting these low quality gems we don't use. Why not let me use them towards something I do need!

Thus ended my rant. I just had to get this jewelcrafting dilemma off my chest. I'm doing what I can to keep the vaults stocked and thanks to Beorr for helping make this easier on me by sharing your ore! It's just so frustrating to have 14 Sky Sapphires in stock and ready to cut but everyone is asking for Monarch Topaz and Scarlet Rubies. Ugh!

New Pet Crab

Good news! Today after doing the fishing daily I found a Strand Crawler in my bag. I've decided to keep him and add him to my growing collection of pets. He's very tiny or at least seems rather small to me but he's friendly enough.

I was pretty excited when I got my Unusual Compass a couple days ago. I was super excited when I found a pet!

I didn't even know a pet was available from the fishing daily. I'll have to look into other items available from those quests. Perhaps there are other fun goodies I didn't know about.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all the mom's and grandmom's out there!

Today's actually the day my little one was due if she hadn't decided to pop out six weeks earlier. I'm glad she's already here so I can officially celebrate my first mother's day.

I was already treated to flowers, cards and my favorite donuts this morning. I also got a nice gift card for a spa day. I'm really looking forward to that! I could get used to getting spoiled on mother's day!

Higher Learning

I forgot to mention it but a couple days ago I finally found the last book I was missing for the Higher Learning achievement. It was the book in the Dalaran Visitors Center. I stopped in there looking for it I couldn't tell you how many times. I've found many other interesting books sitting there instead of the book I needed. I've been looking for this book for probably about 2 months now.

The weird thing is that popping into the Visitor Center is such a part of my Dalaran routine, I find myself still looking inside simply out of habit. It's sort of strange not to have to do that anymore.

The best news is that I am 9 pets away from Lil' Game Hunter. Pretty exciting!

The Matron

Today I finished the Children's Week event. Only reason I completed all the tasks on day two of the event was because the achievement Daily Chores doesn't appear to be working properly. The way it reads, it makes it sound like you should get credit for doing a daily quest once a day for five days. Instead I received credit for completing any daily quests with my little orphan out.

The most difficult and irritating of was of course the School of Hard Knocks. I have had moderately good success in PvP with other characters but for some reason, I am absolute rubbish on my mage. Given the weekend battleground was Eye of the Storm, that proved to be the most popular and most difficult battleground to complete. It was for me anyway. I had no difficulty in Warsong Gulch. I've spent way too much time in that battleground in the past to not do well even as a gimped mage.

I went so far as to actually purchase my dual spec ability and start building a PvP set for Desdarii. That is something I had not planned on doing. I really didn't see a purpose for it but I ended up dead so quickly and often in EotS that I actually found it necessary.

I did get everything done thanks to Gabi and Gee's assistance. In turn, I helped Gabi with Warsong Gulch. I left him to do Arathi Basin himself. Goodness, I dislike that battleground.

I also owe a huge thank you to Gabi, Beorr and Brimlsye as they allowed me to stay in Utgarde Pinnacle with them when unexpected company arrived and I had to go AFK. I had done all the bosses but King Ymiron, which was of course the reason I was going for Hail to the King, Baby. They allowed me to stay and finished the dungeon and got me the achievement. To them I am very grateful.
All said and done it is day two of Children's Week and I am already known as Matron Desdarii. This is definitely my new favorite title.

I do love the little draenei orphan. Even after turning in the quests for the new little pets, I asked if I could continue taking Dornaa out and the Orphanage is allowing me to continue to mentor her. I'm sure there are plenty of other things I can show her that she is interested in.

I'm Done with Eggs!

Well I am all done. I have gotten all of the achievements associated with Nobelgarden. I got several sets of all the clothing available so I didn't have to purchase any of those with chocolates. I didn't actually buy the bunny ears, though. The picture was taken just after I was hit with them by some passer-by.

Probably the hardest part for me was finding a female orc for Shake Your Bunny-Maker. It seemed like I always saw one while my flowers were on cool down. (Which by the way 5 min cool down? Why?) I finally ended up just stalking one who was taking care of business in Dalaran. I followed her to a shop where she probably repaired her armor, then on to the bank where she conducted business until I was able to slam some bunny ears on her head like a crazy person.

I also got to feel helpful as I have one of the rarer of the alliance characters, a female dwarf, in my line up. So I took some time running around Dalaran with Goldy to give people a chance to finish their achievements.

I also took the time to collect an extra 100 chocolates to purchase my Rabbit Polymorph spell. I of course needed the option to turn things into wabbits. I just wish I could polymorph multiple things at once and create a farmyard at my feet.

As a side note, take a look at those Spring Robes! Holy moly my girly parts are barely covered. I don't think I should be posing in outfits like that now. I'm someone's mother!

Noblegarden Break

I used the fact that I'm up every 3 hours to feed a baby to my advantage and in the wee hours of the morning after feeding and caring for the baby I headed egg hunting. It was much better. I could run around and actually feel like I was collecting eggs rather than camping them. This is obviously more how Blizzard intended it to work. Unfortunately those who have a typical work/sleep pattern probably won't see it working this way until later in the week I would guess.

I will get the items I need eventually from this event but it doesn't excuse the horrible experience I had on day one. It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. It would of been better if the eggs were spread out across the zone instead of in such a restrictive area. I would happily give up the egg basket speed buff to make things feel more like a game of hide and seek.

Anyway if anyone is experiencing over crowding issues like I was, it did in fact help to try on off times.

Noblegarden is No Fun

I have to express my extreme disappointment with the Noblegarden event. Clustered as it is in the little beginner town areas it is a breeding ground for Desdarii melt downs.

I'll try to state the positives first. For one, the event isn't tied to a timer like Hallow's End or Love Is In the Air. When I find a brightly colored egg I'm not locked out of continuing with the event for an hour or something silly. Also the eggs are fairly easy to find once you know where to look. It appears I can purchase the fun items in case the random generator decides to not be kind to me. They may not count for the achievement but at least I can still get them.

Now what I hate about this event.

Basically there is no rushing around to find eggs. There is no joy in searching and finding your prizes because moving about the area is counter productive to gaining many eggs. The area is so overcrowded that you have to find a spawn point and sit there for eternity to collect eggs as they spawn. At the same time you have to fight jerks who are trying like heck to grab the same egg as it spawns. It's the jerks that ruin this event for me.

I had this person who saw that I had been sitting in the same spot for quite some time and decided to sit at the same point with me. I very politely said "I have been sitting here for a while. Could you find your own spot, please?" I was told to "click faster". I would never behave such a way and was very upset. The person proceeded to sit with me for over 30 minutes trying beat me to picking up eggs. He wasn't very good at it and told me he hated me after missing so many. Yet he remained, determined to ruin my game time. I ignored him but cursed about him plenty in real life.

I wouldn't try to take eggs from someone who was clearly trying to collect from that singular spot. Maybe that's naive of me. I know the person honestly has no claim over those eggs but it's only polite to move on to your own space.

After an hour I decided this was ridiculous. Everyone rushing around, calling people names, all for the "good fun" of some achievements. How can camping an egg spawning point for hours on end be fun? What is Blizzard thinking? Sitting in one spot for hours and panicking to click on a egg first wins the Worst Event Ever Award from me. It had me so entirely stressed out I almost cursed at a critter that wandered too close to my egg spot. Not even a player, a harmless little critter.

To be fair, I was told by one of my guildmates that he was working on the event earlier and had a great time. It was before it became over crowded and he said it was fine. Perhaps the closer the event comes to a close the more luck I will find. I can also try tomorrow during the day and see if I find any reprieve from the horrible situation I was experiencing. Right now I'm just so frustrated and so entirely disappointed with this event I may not even finish it.

A Different Game

We've been home from the hospital for a week now and my game time and goals are very different. I only get short spurts of time to play due to baby's eating schedule. As a result I have retired my raiding hat. Baby is up and hungry about every 3 hours which is the exact time for one of our raids. I can't justify making everyone wait while I change a diaper or warm a bottle. It makes me insane when others make me wait, I can't do that to others.

As a result, I've been mostly working on dailies. I still have my silly personal goals though. Like I absolutely need a Chef's Hat. I still have 40 more tokens to earn before I have it. I'm so happy I decided to keep up with the daily even after getting all the cooking achievements.

The fishing daily has made me feel useful in that I can use the fish I catch to create Fish Feast to put in the bank for the guild raiders to use. For those who haven't noticed, this item is no longer soulbound. I belly griped pretty loudly about how silly it was being soulbound. Apparently others agreed with me.

Finally I've been doing my best work with keeping the guild vaults filled with gems for others to use. I think they were in a bit if dire need as the first couple times I filled the vault, the gems disappeared quickly. Guildees have been great in supplying me with ore since I don't have a ton of time to go searching for it. I think it is working well and making me feel important.

Surprise!

Our little girl decided 9 months was too darn long to wait to come out and explore the world. As a result, she arrived 6 weeks early.

Everyone meet Elizabeth Jane. Born April 2nd, 2009. 6 lbs 9 oz and 18 inches long she doesn't look much like a preemie. She'll be staying in the hospital for a bit while they make sure she is doing well by her own. She's doing great though and we can't wait to take her home.

As a result, my WoW time is obviously nonexistent right now :)

Sarth +1 Down

We really haven’t been pushing ourselves for any kind of progression since forming our new guild. We cleared Naxx once or twice, came in and tried Sartharon with one drake up twice but then just killed him to get him out of the way. No big deal really.

Last night we decided we’ve been farting around long enough and time to get something done! We all watched a Tankspot video on doing Sarth with three drakes, grabbed our swords and maces and implements of destruction and entered Obsidian Sanctum.

Our plan of attack was to mimic the strategy from the Sarth +3 video. That way when we are practiced enough to add another drake we could continue our current system and just add to it. Seemed smart right?

Well Bananas don’t seem to think that way. We tried several times with the +3 positioning and gave up when we weren’t getting even a little big close to destroying the drake.

We went to a plan B. That’s B for Bananas, people.

We looked at who we had, what we knew we could do and created a strategy we thought would work for us. We had Vespyr, our Paladin tank, keeping Sartharon busy. Gabi, our Death Knight tank, poking the drake in the eye and we took Shalontas, our feral kitty, and made him go all bear on the elementals and whelps rushing around.

We positioned everyone so the DPS had very little movement required. Shalontas and Gabi worked well in gathering whelps and elementals all in a pile so we could AoE them down.

It took a couple practice runs in this new positioning but it clicked for us and we knew it was going to work. I believe it was only our third try when everything fell into place like clockwork and the drake and Sartharon went down easy as pie with everyone still standing. Another Bananas victory!

Mobile Authenticator

I have talked before about my purchase of the Blizzard Authenticator key fob. I’ve had it since July ‘08 and have had no regrets at all with this purchase. It has never caused any problems and has never been considered a bother. It’s an extra 10 seconds to login and the added warm fuzzy feeling that my account is just that much harder to hack. After seeing guildmates being hacked left and right, I felt very much like a smart cookie for the little $7 purchase.

For those of you with fancy-schmancy phones like my iPhone, there is now an app available that does the exact same thing as my key fob. See the FAQs for more detailed information. The best part of all this is that this application is FREE. Yup, it doesn’t cost anything! And I thought $7 was a good deal!

You are required to convert your WoW account into a Battle.net account which really was super simple. Only difference? Now I login to WoW with my email address & password instead of my account username. You can add multiple accounts to your Battle.net profile as well so all your logins are now the same. I have an old deactivated WoW account that I was able to add to my profile as easily as the active account.

To use the application authenticator I had to first remove the key fob connection. They made it simple. I just had to enter two codes from the authenticator in a row and it was removed. I was then able to add the application authenticator using the serial number of the application, which comes up the first time you open the application or can be found anytime in the Setup menu.

What are the only differences I find between the key fob and app authenticators? The key fob had 6 digits. The application has 8. My husband was happy with the increased numbers but he’s a security nerd. I was neither excited nor dismayed by this news. Also you can now see when the number is about to change with a little progress bar under the code so you don’t have to worry about adding a code that will expire a second before you hit enter. That I do think is pretty handy.

I set up everything last night before going to bed. I didn’t want to start my night out whining if it broke something. It went smoothly with absolutely no problems. I actually already had a battle.net account (from when I purchased the key authenticators for my husband and myself) and to that I was able to add my two WoW accounts. I deactivated the key fob and activated the app. I then crossed my fingers and tried to login with the new code. It worked flawlessly.

A sort of neat side note for those who do have two WoW accounts is that before going to my character selection it asked me what account I wanted to login to. I thought it slightly odd since the one account isn’t active. I felt it pretty obvious which I would want to login to. This of course wouldn’t be an issue for those with multiple active accounts and allows you the use of one authenticator for all your accounts (not to mention only one username/password combo to remember).

My husband has his own iPhone and authenticator app as well has his own battle.net account so we won’t be running into any potential account sharing issues. Like if he goes out and I can’t play because he took his phone and the code with him. I guess that means my days of logging him in to take all his gold are over (just kidding!).

I could see it as a possible bonus parenting tool to prevent kids from logging into WoW without mom or dad there to give them the code. Either that or force kids to sneak their parents phones away when they’re not looking.

If you have an iPhone (or I assume an iPod Touch), I recommend this highly. It’s going to be more convenient for me in the long run because I always have my phone near by. I always kept my key fob with my computer but now I really don’t have to worry about the extra device.

You can download it through the iTunes app store. Click the link on this site for a quick way to find it.

Please Help Me Summon Dalaran!

Last night I was the only mage in the raid group and I ended up having a bit of portal fun with my fellow Bananas.

It started out innocently. Someone had just gotten a tier piece and had asked nicely if they could go and turn in the token quickly. I opened a portal for the fellow and Alburet who had just returned to his computer saw me casting a portal and thinking I was trying to create a new food table very helpfully clicked on it and ended up in Dalaran. We all giggled at his silliness and since he was our warlock had to run out to summon him back.

Later, Hold needed repairs and since he was our off-tank we thought it a good idea that he not fight with broken items. To tease Alburet a bit I announce "Please help me summon Dalaran!" as I'm opening the portal.

Aelaan, who had missed Al's earlier disappearing trick, wasn't thinking clearly and also trying to be most helpful came and clicked on my portal and ended up in Dalaran. Poor Aelaan was teased for being so silly. I told him that to be fair the summon worked because he found Dalaran just fine.

At the end of the night Aelaan emoted that he was clicking the portal to summon Dalaran before he went through it. I thought it was funny. I have some goofy people I hang out with!

I Think the Oracles Love Me!

I sort of don’t care that the puppy people and the googlyblob monsters are fighting each other in Sholazar Basin. I just don’t feel personally involved with their battle. My personal quest to build my reputation with each came from a purely selfish motive.

What I was interested in was the fact that both the Frenzyheart and the Oracles had jewelcrafting patterns that I didn’t know. They only shared these jewelcrafting secrets with those they really really liked.

When I started building my reputation in Sholazar Basin, I first picked the Frenzyheart to work with and gain their trust. This wasn’t by accident.

My reasoning was thus:

Frenzyheart only had a jewelcrafting pattern that I wanted. I didn’t care about the Frenzyheart Insignia of Fury trinket they had or the Frenzyheart Brew you could get from the Ripe Disgusting Jar.

The Oracles on the other hand had a jewelcrafting pattern as well as their cracked eggs that could get me new little pets. I love pets! Yeah, yeah there’s some green proto-drake thing too but who cares about that? I already have a proto-drake that I rarely use.

Seeing how from a rational point of view the jewelcrafting patterns were more useful than the hatched pets I decided the best course of action was to first work with the Frenzyheart. Get what I needed quickly and then switch so I could spend more time focusing on getting the pets I wanted from the Oracles.

The plan was to just get the Frenzyheart to like me well enough to earn the pattern and move on. Keste was quick to point out that doing just a bit more with them granted some recognition. I stuck it out to get the Frenzyheart Tribe & Honorary Frenzyheart achievements. It worked out well as it was this extra bit of time that got me the Frenzyheart Brew.

Pleased with my new pattern and the achievements, I quickly switched camps to working on getting the Oracles to like me. At revered status I was able to purchase my pattern and start nursing eggs that could produce the coveted pets. I have earned Savior of the Oracles achievement but I still have some work to do before I earn the The Oracles achievement. Not much longer though and I’ll be recognized as a Mercenary of Sholazar.

Back to the important part though, the pets! I’ve been revered for about two weeks. Last week my first egg hatched while I was in Naxxramas and to my absolutely delight I found a White Tickbird Hatchling inside. What fabulous luck to get a pet out of my very first egg! A very neat pet as well since the tickbird is able to fly behind me while I’m cruising around on my griffin. He’s turned into a great ore hunting companion.

Last night my second egg was ready to hatch and out slithered a Cobra Hatchling. Unbelievable! I am never this fortunate. Either the Oracles really enjoy my company or I am really good at caring for eggs. I’m not sure which.

I picked up a third egg last night. It is impossible to imagine that perhaps one of the last pets, the Tickbird Hatchling or Proto-Drake Whelp, may be inside. Can the Oracles favor me so much? We will see in approximately 6 more days.

New Guild

I have found myself a new place to belong. Some great friends have gathered together to start our own small friendly guild. The guild is very small and casual but I think it will fit me very well for now. We decided to stick with the name we were used to calling our little group, Bananas. It may seem silly bit it really is very fitting.

We're not even certain if we will get much raiding in but we will certainly try when we can. I really don't mind as I am finding myself pretty busy anyway. The new more casual atmosphere is definately a weight off my mind.

The best part of the new guild? The guild tabbard is so adorable it makes me giggle each and every time I look at it. We picked a monkey because... duh, monkeys love bananas! It's just the silliest tabbard I've ever seen and I love it!

Giant Rat

Yay for me! After trying ever since arriving in Dalaran and fishing up over a thousand random fish and junk I finally have caught myself a giant rat for my critter collection. It came as a surprise as I was standing around chatting with friends and thought it'd be a good time killer. I got the rat on my second cast and oh my goodness did I squeal with glee!

Business Draenei

I've been Desdarii the loner for a couple days now and last night it hit me. I don't have to save all these gems for guildees anymore... I could *gasp* sell them and become rich! Oh! And I could use my jewelcrafting tokens to buy dragons eyes to sell on the Auction House and make more money instead of collecting them to make guildees stuff. I could create titansteel and just sell it to strangers! I could try making some epics and sell them for hefty Auction House prices instead of handing them over for free.

I wonder how much it costs to rent a little space in Dalaran or perhaps purchase myself a street cart? I could easily tour the major cities in a day with my handy dandy portals.

I have a real opportunity to become fabulously wealthy and buy myself more junk for my bank that I really don't have room for! Now to figure out what I can buy once I make my millions. There's gotta be something I need.

Desdarii the Unguilded

I've taken the step to forge forth without a house or membership to belong to. It was a difficult call but one I believe was necessary given how unhappy I was. I will probably be much more casual a player now and the silence in my chat window is startling.

I haven't cancelled the game yet but that may be upcoming. I wasn't planning on keeping the account active past May anyway once the little one arrived so I'm just preparing early which will give me a chance to get some more things settled for our baby's arrival.

It was fun while it lasted but I really just didn't feel like I was a good fit for the guild anymore. They'll go on and I'll find some new path to wander down.

WoW Lull

I’ve grown quite bored and bleh about WoW the last couple weeks. This could be for a couple different reasons.

Seriously Pregnant

I’m 8 months pregnant and realized I have less than 8 weeks to finish all the crap I need to do to prepare for baby! We’ve got birthing classes, registries for the shower, preparing for leaving work, scrubbing the house for the in-law’s visit, selecting a name, etc etc. I need to work on this stuff and let’s not forget that I’m new. I haven’t a clue what I’m doing!

Drama

I seriously have no patience for any of it which may be mostly contributed to being increasingly uncomfortable the closer I get to 40 weeks. Seeing any sort of unnecessary nonsense fill my screen makes me want to log out and not return.

It doesn’t matter the degree of drama. I’m irritated by all of it. Someone upset about some serious life altering guild issue is met with the same snarkiness of some whiner complaining that no one said “Hi” to them when they logged in. Not to mention the reoccurring arguments that seem to cycle through the guild every month or so. A month or so ago I may have given my all to trying to help resolve them. Now they’re just tired dried up discussions I’ve had many times and am personally done with.

It’s not limited to the guild either. I tried taking my priest, Goldy, on a PuG run and was booted from the group because of my complaints of the other members. No, I will not take back calling that dwarf a huntard when he was so apparently bad at his class. Nor do I apologize for telling the paladin that just joined our already in progress run that he should join a group ready to go and that I won’t wait for him to eat his dinner first.

Do not come to me with your problems right now unless you want to deal with a buttload of pregger aggro. You’d think about to be a mom I’d be all comforting and helpful. Not this little Draenei. You have been warned.

Feeling like I don’t have much to do when I login

Desdarii first does her jewelcrafting daily. She then checks and refills the vaults with cut gems for guildees. It’s a thankless task but one I’m happy to do so long as people find it useful. Des has been working on getting heroic dungeon achievements when folks are on to help. Des helps clear Naxx each week with her raiding group.

Goldy logs in to disenchant things and work on her tailoring from materials friends have sent her. Apart from that singular PuG attempt this is the extent of her game time.

Aratria farms some herbs and prepares potions for Desdarii’s raiding. She spends the rest of her time standing around in cat form in Dalaraan and /lick-ing random people because I’m strange like that.

Other than that, meh. It sort of feels like rinse, repeat after that honestly.

I don’t think I’m ready to quit the game but maybe I’m just too wrapped up in the real life to do list that I’m not giving WoW a fair piece of my attention. So I apologize that I haven’t been very prolific writing here lately but I haven’t been feeling it. And if I’ve been particularly unsympathetic or even mean to you I apologize*. Blame the hormones.

* Huntards and rude Pally’s do not qualify for said apology.

Our First Malygos Attempt

Last Sunday we were running late and weren't able to complete our clear of Naxxramus like we usually do. We decided to gather on Monday even though it is not a typical raid day for us just to kill Kel'thuzad. Poor Alburet wasn't able to attend due to prior commitments but was a good sport and wished us all luck.

Monday night we did kill Kel'thuzad without any difficulty and so we had ten folks standing around going, "Now what?" We had already done Sartharion and Archavon that week. Our fearless leader said "Umm... To Malygos!" So after everyone discussing where the heck Malygos actually was located and much travel we arrived and gave just a single go at the big scary dragon.

We didn't expect to get far. No one was prepared. It was a spur of the moment thing. As it turned out, we were correct since we didn't even make it through the first phase.

Later little Alburet expressed distress at missing our attempt at Malygos. I understand Al's point. He wants to be there and experience it all with us. I totally get it and am not trying to discredit his feelings. Honestly though, all the shadowy little gnome missed was a very confused group of people running about and then dying quickly.

I thought Keste's (aka Gabi) quick summary version of the night's events was very accurate so I wanted to copy it here.
  • Gabi summons Malygos
  • Gee goes "OH CRAP!" because he realizes Malygos now wants to eat Gabi
  • Gee pulls aggro
  • Gee keeps moving around
  • DPS keeps moving around
  • Everyone goes "WHERE ARE THE FRIGGIN SPARKS??"
  • Everyone goes "OH CRAP THERE'S A BUNCH OF SPARKS"
  • Everyone goes "WTF, WHY ARE WE IN THE AIR??"
  • Everyone goes "THIS IS STUPID, I HATE YOU FOREVERS MALYGOS"
  • We die
  • Everyone goes "We need to go read up on this fight again."
  • Half of us go "Why can't we res?"
  • The other half goes, "Because you're trying to get into the portal to Occulus."
That really explains our first Malygos attempt and reading it makes me giggle. Don't worry Alburet, next time we go in there it will be planned in advance and people will actually have some details on how to stay alive. I'll personally make sure that you are around when we go as well!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Eh, it may be tacky to announce and wish myself a happy birthday but you'll get over it. Today I am 31 years old and I also happen to be 31 weeks pregnant! Strange coincidence!

Happy Birthday Me!

Lich King Heroic Achievements

Yesterday a group of us got together with the sole purpose of trying some of the heroic dungeons harder achievements. We had Gee our Paladin tank, Gabi our Death Knight tank, Stesha for healing juices and Earynn and I rounded out the group with our damaging skills. We worked at this for hours and only acquired four achievements but they weren't simple ones!

Azjol-Nerub
We started in Azjol-Nerub. It was the one dungeon none of had any of the achievements for. First on the list was Watch Him Die. This was a little tricky. We had to kill the big ugly bug guy (Krik'thir the Gatewatcher) without killing his Watchers. The skirmishers, warriors and shadowcasters could die, just not the Watchers. This was why we built our group with two tanks.

Our original plan consisted of Gee handling the groups one at a time and killing the smaller adds. Then Gee would keep the Watchers busy while Gabi tanked Krik'thir for us. It didn't work too well. The Watchers were continuously wrapping us in webbing or blinding us making the boss kill impossible.

Plan B was to have Gee just grab all the monsters in the room and run away while Gabi grabbed Krik'thir for us. Again another failure as Gee died too soon for us to finish the boss off but we were very close!

The winning plan was to combine these two ideas. Gee pulled the first two groups one at a time letting us kill the smaller spider things. He then snagged the third group and ran with the 3 Watchers and just 2 adds chasing him. Gabi got Krik'thir's attention and with the help of Earynn's heroism ability we burned him down. We all then promptly died from the returning watch of evil wrapping and blinding Watchers but the achievement was ours!

Next on the list was Hadronox Denied. This one was much more straight forward. We just had to catch the giant spider before it reached the front of the room and webbed the gates closed. Simple right? Well no there were the three Crushers in the way as well as the endless stream of little bug creatures.

Our first attempt we were very nervous about Hadronox getting up front before we were able to catch him. We had Gee grab the first and second Crusher and when dead start moving with the third crusher towards where Hadronox would be arriving to at. This didn't prove to work so well. With the crusher plus the tons of little bug creatures it wasn't long before we were all smashed into paste. We did realize that Hadronox is not rushing to the front so we abandoned this plan.
Second attempt was to kill all the Crushers in turn and then position Gee to take care of Hadronox and Gabi was tossing his Death and Decay to distract all the little spiders. Again everyone started to go squish but we had the fire power to finish off Hadronox before we all went down. Achievement received ... and then we all died from the adds. It seems to be a trend with us.

Last in Azjol-Nerub was Gotta Go! Pretty straight forward. Kill Anub'arak within 4 minutes. The achievement in game says 2 minutes. This has been upped to 4 minutes in 3.0.8 but the text in the game hasn't been corrected.

The trick to this one is how quickly you can kill the adds when Anub'arak burrows so he will come back up quicker. Luckily high damage happens to be a specialty of me and my friends. We got this achievement on our first try and didn't even die!

Gundrak

With Azjol-Nerub completed we decided that our group's set up was also ideal for Moorabi in Gundrak with the number of interrupts and silences we had. Basically everyone but Stesha had a way to stop the Mammoth transformation. We ran out to Gundrak to try for Less-Rabi.

We spent two hours alone attempting this achievement. This one is no joke. It is not just skill but a good smattering of luck to get this done. Good thing is that he's very easy to run from if he does transform so you can reset and try him again. We had a death every now and then but for the most part we were just able to rush out and try again. I can't tell you how many resets we had attempting this.

We also learned that Gabi's Strangulate skill did not stop the transformation. He could however use Mind Freeze without a problem.

Moorabi casts his transform ability every 10 seconds until at 50%. Then he casts transform every 5 seconds with the cast times getting quicker and quicker. They come so fast that you basically have to anticipate them and cast your spell before you even saw the cast bar to beat the lag.

Our problem came about transformation #4. We were doing alright having Earynn interrupt first, Gabi second, Earynn third and I was given this horrible fourth interrupt with my counterspell. I started getting the interrupt down but it was difficult and touchy since I was trying to anticipate and catch the cast before I saw it. The problem was when I did successfully stop the fourth transformation we would be stopped by the fifth.

We finally abandoned this plan and sent Earynn to Ironforge to respec into Reverberation that would bring his Earth Shock from 6 to 5 seconds. We changed our order to Gabi first, me second and then Earynn just spamming his earthshock every time it was available to take care of the five second transforms.

We were all about at our wits end at this point but after a few practices with Earynn's new talented spell we did it. Oh it was sweet sweet relief!

After this victory we were spent. Hours of working on these achievements was tiring work! We were all just so happy to have Less-rabi finished we disbanded to allow us to relax and get some food.

Less Is More

I've been a bit under the weather lately (don't worry I'm really starting to feel better) so my time adventuring has been slightly less than normal. Added to that we're in a sort of lull as some very important raid members headed for warmer climates and sandy beaches. Not that I blame them, I just miss them.

Yesterday was a scheduled raid night and without those two we really decided to sort of putz around with the seven we did have. I joined my first fight in Wintergrasp and thanks to Earynn's excellent guidance I would say I did fairly well. I totally dig being on those giant what-cha-ma-jigs and casting frost-firey doom on all the little Hordies. We even won the match which was exciting.

Afterwards we gathered up our brave seven and decided to kill Archavon. I personally stepped out to allow Aratria more practice with healing raids. She did well and Archavon was destroyed.

Then our crazy and fearless leader Geearthur called for us to assemble and attempt Sartharion. There's special recognition for defeating him with less than nine and we were certain our seven could do it. Aratria returned to her alchemy lab to allow me to offer my damaging spells for our attempt. It did take us two tries but the second attempt couldn't of gone smoother than if we were a full raiding team. It was announced that I was an achiever of "Less is More". Something I'm quite proud of.

The rest of the week should be relaxing as we wait for our vacationers return but I don't mind. A break from raiding now and then recharges the excitement!

Black Cats!

Yes, I did it. I am just silly enough to spend my hard earned gold on something as ridiculous as a polymorph: black cat tome.

I've wanted it for a while and have been very good about avoiding the temptation. I helped fund Aratria and Gabi's quick flight skill which was a lot of gold. I'm still sending Goldy regular bits of cash to help with her artisan skills. Today was the day though. I had enough staring at the tome and just decided to go for it.

Was it worth it? Oh yeah! Check it out. I ran out and specifically found a sheep to turn into a cat just so I could giggle at myself. Totally worth it.

My WoW Is Broked!

I was online earlier doing my jewelcrafting daily and was about to fly off to get some fishing in before the raid this evening when my game crashed. When I tried to start it up again I got a critical error.

I tried restarting. I tried repairing. Nothing is working! Ahhhhhhh!

Keste is helping me try to fix it but nothing really is more frustrating than sitting around waiting for my game to get fixed. I just hope I don't miss the raid because of it.

Many Heroics for Aratria

My husband's death knight, Gabi, has been trying hard to gear up for raiding to possible take over the tanking his druid currently does. Since Stesha has gone shadow for a little healing vacation that has made my druid, Aratria, Gabi's bestest friend ever!

In the past two days I've done 7 or 8 heroics. I'm really not sure as I lost count after a while. Unfortunately Gabi hasn't been able to get the pieces he needs but I have been quite fortunate in collecting several new items for my collection.

What I'm most excited about is the War Mace of Unrequited Love. This was a huge upgrade from the silly mace I was toting about before. I also used my badges to buy a new offhand and idol. She's come a long way in a short span of time.

Quite the Weekend!

It has been quite the weekend for me thus far. A lot of interesting and exciting things have happened that I must report.

Let me start with one I've been obsessing about the last couple entries. The "Love is in the Air" achievement title. I did it and now known as Desdarii the Love Fool! Thank goodness too for I would of been severely upset if I missed this one due to the candy bag's strange lack of appearance. The only thing I didn't see (or haven't seen yet) is the permapeddle pet. I did however have 6 lovely black dresses to hand out to all my friends.

Rewind back to Friday evening. Geearthur and Stesha pulled together a group of friends and guildmates to enter Blackwing Lair. This is actually a dungeon I had never seen all the way through. We easily made it to Nefarian and saw him laid down. An excellent achievement under everyone's belt.

Saturday evening I was bitten by some sort of achievement bug and decided to get the Classic Dungeonmaster achievement. I had about 6 dungeons to run for the achievement and although I know for a fact I've done ones like Zul'Farrak and Scarlet Monastery, I did them again and cleaned that one out before calling it an evening.

Gwydion was kind enough to make Desdarii a Wispcloak of her very own and I'm very proud to say that Desdarii is back once again in all epic gear. I remember how excited I was when I did this back in the Burning Crusades. It's a very satisfying feeling to look so great and be proud of what you've earned.

This afternoon Geearthur and Stesha once again organized an old world raid. This time the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. Goldy has visited this dungeon before but Desdarii had not. I was even the lucky duck who won Ossirian's head and was proclaimed for all to hear a hero of Sillithus!

Bag of Candies

From Kisirani:

The Bag of Candies had a fairly reasonable drop rate and was in no way bugged; however, due to the random aspect of the achievement, we discussed it and did hotfix an increase in last night. While I'm aware that some of you dislike the chance aspect of this achievement, it will remain in the meta.

And just to dispel all the superstition around it, no NPC has a greater chance of giving out candies. They're all equal.

Desdarii still hasn't had any luck obtaining even a single candy bag despite trying all last night and getting up early this morning. Hopefully an increase of the drop rate will help. I'm pretty annoyed that such a random feature is required for the title but I will keep trying and hope I have some luck.

Love Anxiety!

The “Love is in the Air” event began on Wednesday and I have of course been devoting 100% of my time to it. Keste says he even knows better than to ask if I want to do something else and has gone off to do his dailies without me.

I’ve got two days of the event completed now and I have to say I am doing pretty well. I am only 3 achievements away from my title.

The first one on the list I just need to get into a dungeon. I honestly have been working on hitting everyone with arrows and rose petals and tossing out friendship bracelets. I’m not too worried about getting my bouquet. I'm fairly certain a certain bear will help me go in and get what I desire.

However, the other two have got me starting to bite my nails a bit. I mean, this event is only around until Monday and I’ve only received 1 love rocket and it was from a quest. I haven’t even seen a bag of candies, yet. I’m really trying, too! I’m getting an adoration gift as often as possible. I’ve even taken to logging in before heading to work because it’s one more gift package I can get.

I have a back up plan for the love rocket. The Gift Giving quest hands out your choice of gifts upon completion and one of those is a set of 5 rockets. First time I did this quest I took the rose petals so I could finish Fistful of Love. That was obviously a mistake as I have plenty of those, I should have taken the rockets to begin with. If need be I can repeat the quest 2 more times and get the 10 rockets I need. It will be a pain but at least it’s do-able.

That leaves the Be Mine! achievement. From what I read it seems that most of the time you will need at least two of the bag of candies in order to get all 8 candies required. I’m getting nervous since I’m really trying and haven’t gotten any to date.

Hopefully I can get what I need. I would be seriously bummed if I missed this event due to bad luck with a drop rate and have to wait a whole year to try again! Wish me luck!

Good Night for Desdarii in Naxx

Apart from our little raiding troupe being able to clear three wings in one evening which is a new record for us, I had a great night gear wise. I was lucky enough to pick up two more pieces of Tier 7 giving me the set bonus I was hoping for. The pants and the shoulders dropped and while Keste could of used the shoulders he was very sweet and said I could have them. I also won a new helm (which is decidedly very ugly). This has increased my skills by leaps and bounds all in one evening.

Love Is In The Air!

The next Azeroth holiday event is just around the corner. The major cities all get the love bug and spend a couple days handing out friendship tokens and other gifts to each other. This year’s celebration takes place from February 11th through February 16th.

Things To Do

This holiday has a sort of Hallows End flair to it in that you will be interacting with innkeepers and get debuffs that limits your activity in the event for an hour. Instead of trick or treating you are handing out valentines to city guards.

You will start by speaking with an innkeeper in a major city such as Thunder Bluff or Ironforge and purchase from them:

The cologne is for use when handing out tokens to female NPCs, perfume is preferred by male NPCs. The NPCs you can hand tokens to are clearly marked with hearts over their heads.

There is a chance that the guard will not appreciate your token and will instead give you a “heartbroken” debuff. This debuff prevents you from handing out any tokens for one hour. The debuff can be removed if someone is kind enough to use a Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet on you.

If they are happy with the love token they will give you a pledge or a gift. On your first token you may receive the debuff “adored” and you will receive a Pledge of Adoration or a Gift of Adoration. If you already have the “adored” debuff you could get a Pledge of Friendship or a Gift of Friendship. You can continue to hand out tokens to as many guards as you like if you are adored.

The Pledge or Gift of Adorations will only be given to you when you do not have the “adored” debuff limiting these gifts to once an hour. It can contain a variety of items that, while aren’t particularly useful, are super fun to play with. Things like Romantic Picnic Basket, Lovely Black Dress, Love Rocket, Handful of Rose Petals, Silver Shafted Arrow, Bag of Candies, Unbestowed Friendship Bracelets and a Love Fool. It could also contain some items folks may find a bit more useful like the Box of Chocolates which will contain a variety of different chocolates with some pretty nice buffs. Most of these silly items are used in some sort of achievement. Very nice and fun items so make sure you do this at least once an hour especially if you are hoping for the achievement title.

The Pledge or Gift of Friendships you can get while under the “adored” buff will the pieces needed to build the Alliance and Horde Gift Collections. You need the loyalty pledges and the cards you will get from city guards. The civilians will give you the more homey item (bread, ale or woodcrafts). You combine all three of these itemsto make an Alliance or Horde Gift Collection for a quest. Apart from being a quest these collections are used in a popularity contest between the faction leaders. You will give your gift collection to Kwee Q. Peddlefeet near faction leader of your choice and the leader with the most gifts will have a cupid near that will buff players. You will also have your choice of some fun items and a box of chocolates for turning them in. This popularity contest has basically no impact on anything in the game and there are very few who actually pay attention to it. Most will simply turn the gift collection in to the closest leader.

Other fun things you could try for is trying to find a Bouquet of Red Roses from in old world dungeons. It is held in your off hand and acts exactly like a Handful of Rose Petals but with unlimited charges. Not exactly necessary but I know I want one. There are four NPCs that have the chance to drop it.

  • Archivist Gallord in Stratholme (Human Side)
  • Illyanna Ravenoak in Dire Maul
  • Lorekeeper Pokelt in Scholomance
  • Princess Moira Bronzebeard in Blackrock Depths

New this year is the Bouquet of Ebon Roses which is similar to the red version but showers your targets with black petals instead. It is not yet known but is expected to be a random drop in Northrend dungeons.

Tip! These items cannot replace the handful of petals needed in the achievements!

Update! 2/11/09
The bouquet of red roses is not listed on the WoW Events page for this holiday and it is rumored that they are no longer available. The Ebon Roses are listed as a possible drop off the following Northrend bosses. It does not appear that any of these dungeons must be completed on heroic for the roses.
  • Maiden of Grief (Halls of Stone)
  • Prince Keleseth (Utgarde Keep)
  • Prince Taldaram (Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom)

Quests To Complete

  • Gift Giving (Alliance / Horde)
Turn in an Alliance or Horde Gift Collection to your favorite faction leader.

  • Dearest Colara (Alliance) or Dearest Elenia (Horde)
Each of the 3 major faction cities will have a NPC that is smitten by the same woman and wants you to deliver a note to her. You will only get this quest once even though there are three men all wanting you to do it. The Alliance’s Colara Dean is located in Stormwind. Elenia Haydon is in the Undercity. Both should be found near the city’s bank. There are no rewards that I can see mentioned for completing this. Its purpose is to introduce you to the Dangerous Love quest.

  • Dangerous Love: Alliance / Horde
This starts by the bank in Stormwind / Undercity where a fellow will ask you to bring a Stormwind Guard’s Card /Guardian’s Moldy Card to them. You do this simply by handing out love tokens to the city guards as mentioned above. It may take you a couple tries before you get the card.

  • Aristan’s Hunch (A) / Fenstad’s Hunch (H)
