Today I redeemed my Battle-Bot pet from the Mountain Dew promotion. It just looks like a bot but it has two empty canisters on the back. I supposedly was to receive fuel for the bot but I didn't get any. I can get some tomorrow anyway. I really just needed another pet.
I started the Argent Tournament quests later than most. Gee kept telling me how great jousting was and I honestly just wasn't interested. I just kept doing my own little round of dailies and completely ignored that little patch in Icecrown.
Good news! Today after doing the fishing daily I found a Strand Crawler in my bag. I've decided to keep him and add him to my growing collection of pets. He's very tiny or at least seems rather small to me but he's friendly enough.I sort of don’t care that the puppy people and the googlyblob monsters are fighting each other in Sholazar Basin. I just don’t feel personally involved with their battle. My personal quest to build my reputation with each came from a purely selfish motive.
What I was interested in was the fact that both the Frenzyheart and the Oracles had jewelcrafting patterns that I didn’t know. They only shared these jewelcrafting secrets with those they really really liked.
When I started building my reputation in Sholazar Basin, I first picked the Frenzyheart to work with and gain their trust. This wasn’t by accident.
My reasoning was thus:
Frenzyheart only had a jewelcrafting pattern that I wanted. I didn’t care about the Frenzyheart Insignia of Fury trinket they had or the Frenzyheart Brew you could get from the Ripe Disgusting Jar.
The Oracles on the other hand had a jewelcrafting pattern as well as their cracked eggs that could get me new little pets. I love pets! Yeah, yeah there’s some green proto-drake thing too but who cares about that? I already have a proto-drake that I rarely use.
Seeing how from a rational point of view the jewelcrafting patterns were more useful than the hatched pets I decided the best course of action was to first work with the Frenzyheart. Get what I needed quickly and then switch so I could spend more time focusing on getting the pets I wanted from the Oracles.
The plan was to just get the Frenzyheart to like me well enough to earn the pattern and move on. Keste was quick to point out that doing just a bit more with them granted some recognition. I stuck it out to get the Frenzyheart Tribe & Honorary Frenzyheart achievements. It worked out well as it was this extra bit of time that got me the Frenzyheart Brew.
Pleased with my new pattern and the achievements, I quickly switched camps to working on getting the Oracles to like me. At revered status I was able to purchase my pattern and start nursing eggs that could produce the coveted pets. I have earned Savior of the Oracles achievement but I still have some work to do before I earn the The Oracles achievement. Not much longer though and I’ll be recognized as a Mercenary of Sholazar.
Back to the important part though, the pets! I’ve been revered for about two weeks. Last week my first egg hatched while I was in Naxxramas and to my absolutely delight I found a White Tickbird Hatchling inside. What fabulous luck to get a pet out of my very first egg! A very neat pet as well since the tickbird is able to fly behind me while I’m cruising around on my griffin. He’s turned into a great ore hunting companion.
Last night my second egg was ready to hatch and out slithered a Cobra Hatchling. Unbelievable! I am never this fortunate. Either the Oracles really enjoy my company or I am really good at caring for eggs. I’m not sure which.
I picked up a third egg last night. It is impossible to imagine that perhaps one of the last pets, the Tickbird Hatchling or Proto-Drake Whelp, may be inside. Can the Oracles favor me so much? We will see in approximately 6 more days.
I have earned the trust of the noble Kalu'ak (you know, the walrus people) and it has paid off nicely. I now have Pengu as a new companion and the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. Both are picture here.
I've been stuck at 49 noncombat pets since receiving Bananas and it was really bothering me. However, it was not bothering me enough to spend the ridiculous sum of 2,500 gold to purchase one of the whelplings I do not own from the auction house. My choices were limited. I still am unsuccessful in obtaining the rat from the Dalaran sewers. I resigned to the fact that I would have to wait until I could obtain pengu.
Breanni had sent me my very own pet skunk named "Stinker"! I had Keste pose in the picture with me since he was such an instrumental part of this victory of mine. Isn't stinker so cute? You get used to the smell after a while.
Keste and I are horrible at present giving. Honestly, it's mostly me. When I buy someone a present I want to give it to them right now so I can see their face light up when they open it. I believe this attitude of mine has infected Keste because he's now just as bad at me when it comes to present giving. We're lucky if we have any presents to actually open on Christmas Day. So far I've been strong and not allowing him to open his big Christmas present which I already have and wrapped so he can't peak.
If you ever need lessons on how to not level, Nyriell and I are your perfect teachers. To be fair we did first finish a dungeon run of Azjol-Nerub so we weren't complete slackers. I can't say I enjoyed that bug infested dungeon much.
To pass the time we ran out to the lumber mill and picked ourselves up a couple of pretty ponies. We decided we liked the slower kind better. The armor on the swifter pony's looked silly. So we ran through the forests of Elwynn having a good ol' time on our new ponies.
This is when Ny had her spark of genius and said I should take my critter army into Stormwind. Since you only have a few short minutes with your critters after using the snacks I raced towards the gates of Stormwind with my cat and cow army in tow. We were ready to make our demands for cat nip and hay and whatever else it is cow and cats want.
I did make it to the Trade District but not much farther. It was worth it though when Wilven mentioned in guild chat all the cows and cats he saw just charge into the city of Stormwind.

Today I had a surprise in my mailbox. A small crate that made adorable growling and then squeaking noises. Inside is the most adorable little polar bear cub you have ever seen.
Some happy news to report! Tonight I finally got my squashling! He's a little larger than usual thanks to Nyriell feeding him a pet biscuit. I'm so very happy I didn't miss out on this pet!
Here is a picture of me and my new pet firefly. Isn't he cute?! I did learn to not have him out while fishing. My hearing is extra sensitive during fishing listening for the lure and he's a noisy little bugger!
Afterwards we broke into groups with a singular mission. To obtain Don Carlos' Famous Hat for as many people as we could. We had two teams racing into Heroic Durnhold, killing Don Carlos and then racing out to do it again. Unfortunately the fun was stopped after three tries because we were not allowed back into the dungeon. Six people including myself were able to get the sombrero and the coyote pet that comes with it.
The majority of my weekend was spent fighting the Horde. There was a new festival called the "Spirit of Competition" that is going on for most of the month.
There has been talk in the guild about possibly taking a stab at some of the high end dungeons on Azeroth. Places that are now rarely visited like Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair. Keste decided to prepare ourselves for such a task by getting all the necessary attunements.
Before we ventured into the Lower Black Rock Spires, I stopped and spoke with Kibler about the exotic pets he would help me obtain. I could get a spider or... a worg! I love Silvers very much but I believe I'm more of a dog person and would much prefer having a puppy following me around. Who wouldn't? Dogs are such wonderful creatures. So I took the empty worg cage and followed Keste into the Lower Spires.| Adventures of Desdarii by Desdarii Lhim is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License. |
